Verde was first seen by GLPR volunteers with thick green twine tightly bound around her feet. But growing up on the city streets, Verde had learned the hard way not all humans are kind, and she was cautious at first, not sure if she could trust these new people. Over several days the volunteers returned, and gradually Verde came closer until she took a leap of faith and accepted the outstretched helping hands! One of Verde’s feet was easily untangled, but the other had been cut deeply, down to the bone, with the green twine. While her one foot will always be unable to grip and perch, the rest is but a memory that gradually faded as volunteers first called her “greenie,” then finally Verde as her official new name for her new life! And just like spring and summer burst forth with vibrant, green foliage, Verde is leaping right into her new world! She boldly wears her pigeon pants and swoops from room to room in her foster home with newfound confidence! Verde is ready to boldly go forth into the universe of her very own forever home!
