My Story

Taz is a female black headed caique, exact age is unknown (somewhere between 15-20). She probably had too much of a seed diet in the past - leading to high cholesterol, but she'd doing much better now as evidenced by improving radiographs. Yes, you can turn health around for the better!! She didn't take long to warm up to his foster family. She is very vocal always chipping or whistling. She loves being on your shoulder (a long-term habit hard to change!) or hanging out wherever people are. She only gets nippy when it's time for his heart meds. She hasn't shown any interest in bathing on her own, but she goes to the shower with her foster family at least once a week. She loves fruit. She eats birdie bread made with Roudybush pellets. She has Zupreen natural pellets available at all times. Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots. She is an especially good fit for someone who works from home, as she enjoys to be around people, but she doesn’t need to be the center of attention. To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves ONLY Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers. There are also many past event recordings available which you may find helpful. All event information can be found at www.phoenixlanding.org/events Thanks for helping parrots!
