Hello! My name is Simon, and I am approximately 41 years old. I was with my previous owners for 36 years and loved them very much. It took some time to settle in my foster home, but I now feel safe and secure. I hope to find my forever home soon where I will spend the rest of my days at!
I can be a rambunctious fella. I love to talk and am very loud! If you're talking, I will speak to you too. I have a vast vocabulary. I can say "Hello, Bye, Hi Simon, Pretty Bird, Hi gorgeous, Polly wants a cracker, I love snacks, Come here, Here boy, Is it good, Oh yeah, Oh my gosh" and much more. I also do say shut up and the naughty "s word" too.
I really enjoy when my foster parents take me on walks outside with them. I love to talk to all the people and dogs I see on my adventures. My previous owners had dogs, so I am comfortable around them but always supervised and never left alone with them. I also am fine around my foster parrot sibling and am pretty ambivalent to him.
I enjoy walking on the floor and climbing on things. I will follow my foster parents around when I am on the floor. I will tell them to come here and walk to where I want to go. When I am out and about, I do not like stepping up on a perch. I am more comfortable stepping up on your arm.
I also love sitting on shoulders. I will try to climb on you if you are close to me. I am a bit of an attention seeker! I really love when I get lots of attention from my foster parents. I do still need training though because I will chomp at your neck, ears, and face. My foster parents do not think this is intentional, but I get excited.
I am considered a special needs bird because of some medical concerns that I am being treated for. At the vet it was determined that due to being very hormonal, I will need to start hormone shots. The vet also thinks I have some atrophy in my wings from the lack of usage and being in my cage for extended periods. I also have some coordination issues and possible arthritis from the lack of space and time outside of my cage. I am now in an appropriate size cage, and I am very active since coming into my foster home and having lots of out of cage time. Calcium deposits were also discovered in my eyes. This can be from old age or from eating too many seeds. I also have a blunted choanal from eating a predominantly seeded diet. Because of this, the vet thinks I have vitamin A deficiency.
I am currently eating Zupreem's Sensible seeds and NutriBerries but due to my health issues, my foster parents are working very hard to transition me to a healthy pellet diet.
I will not go to bed willingly. My foster parents think it's because I really enjoy having the freedom to be out of my cage, exploring and playing. Since I do not like to go to bed on my own, I have to be put back most of the time. I really could play into the night if my foster parents would let me!
If you have lots of time and love to give a birdie lots of outside cage time for playing and exploring, then I am the perfect birdie for you! Fill out the application below so we can meet!
