My Story

?? Meet Pearl the Cockatiel - Seeking a Forever Home! ?? Hello everyone! I'm Pearl, a charming Cockatiel looking for a loving new home. ? I arrived at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on 5/1/24 from a distributor because they thought I was “imperfect” due to my short tail. Well, the joke is on them because my tail will grow back, and I am perfect just the way I am! Adoption Details: If you're interested in adopting Pearl, please fill out an adoption application on our website here: https://www.jraar.org/adoption and let’s find me a perfect new home! Care Tips for Cockatiels: ? Habitat: Provide Pearl with a spacious cage that is at least 20 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 24 inches high. Include various perches of different diameters, toys, and swings to keep her entertained and active. ?? Environment: Keep the cage in a well-lit area but away from direct sunlight and drafts . Ensure the room has a stable temperature, ideally between 65-80°F. ? Diet: Offer Pearl a balanced diet consisting of high-quality pellets, fresh fruits, vegetables, and occasional seeds. Fresh water should be available at all times, and clean her food and water dishes daily. ? Lighting: Provide a natural day-night cycle by placing the cage near a window with indirect sunlight, or use a bird-safe artificial light source. Ensure she has about 10-12 hours of darkness each night for proper rest. ? Bathing: Offer Pearl a shallow dish of water for bathing a few times a week or mist her gently with water to help keep her feathers clean and healthy. ?? Interaction: Cockatiels are social birds and thrive on interaction. Spend quality time with Pearl daily, talking to her, playing with her, and allowing her to perch on your hand or shoulder. This helps build a strong bond and keeps her happy. ? Stimulation: Cockatiels love to whistle and mimic sounds. Provide Pearl with a variety of toys, mirrors, and opportunities to hear and learn new sounds. Rotate her toys regularly to keep her environment stimulating and engaging. Let’s find Pearl the perfect forever home where she'll be cherished and loved for who she is inside and out! ?? #AdoptDontShop #RescueBird #CockatielLove
