Merlin

Merlin is an 8 year old female Meyers parrot, part of the African Poicephalus family. Merlin would be a great fit for those looking for a calmer, affectionate parrot that is less loud. She prefers to spend her time with company, especially on one’s shoulder (although we are not fans of birds on shoulders, but it is a habit hard to change). She is more than happy to ride along, doing light activities and chores around the house or working on the computer. She also enjoys being with her family while watching a good movie or reading a book, while nibbling on an orange pepper, followed by session of head and neck scratches. Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots. She is an especially good fit for someone who works from home, as she enjoys to be around people, but she doesn’t need to be the center of attention. To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers.
