Lockheart’s rescue story is worthy of a Hollywood cliffhanger film! Lockheart’s finder went outside and was startled to noticed a pigeon pinned by the wing at the top of a closed garage door! A GLPR volunteer worked anxiously with the finder to pry open garage with a crowbar and extract Lockheart without further damaging his wing. They noted Lockheart looked exhausted and like he was ready to give up when they first arrived, but sensed hope was near as they started working to free him! Lockheart received emergency medical care for his badly fractured wing as well as his acute state of shock from hanging upside down and in pain for a significant amount of time. One can only imagine the courage it must’ve taken to indoor until help arrived. Lockheart holds a special place in all our hearts after all he has been through, and he truly deserves all the TLC and reassurance of a gentle, loving foster or forever home as he adjusts to his new life, no longer able to fly but still a giant in his stoic bravery!
