My Story

Dallas is a 4 year old female quaker. She's a tad shy, but that's just fine. Always let a quaker come out of its cage before trying to interact. Otherwise you're asking them to "defend" their house. This is a natural behavior, it does not imply they should be labeled as "mean." Dallas is a hybrid blue quaker (or monk parakeet) and she's enjoying fresh whole foods, Nutri-berries, and pellets. Shreddable toys are a great choice for quakers, they like to weave and build. Lily is a female quaker. She was adopted for many years until her family needed to move out of state. Did you know that quakers are illegal in many states? So when Lily returned to the adoption center, we introduced her to Dallas, another female. They became immediate good friends, how nice for them! Lily enjoys Harrison's pellets, Lafeber Nutri-berries, walnuts, and pistachios. While carrots are a favorite, she could improve her whole food diet. She likes to bathe in a large bowl, and she enjoys flight (yay!). Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots. To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves only Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers. There are also many past event recordings available which you may find helpful. All event information can be found at www.phoenixlanding.org/events Thanks for helping parrots!
