Hello everyone. My name is Kiwi, and I am a 4-year-old Indian Ringneck. I am a peculiar and intelligent bird, not particularly fond of people but with a strong personality that makes me stand out. I have an innate curiosity and a love for freedom, often signaling my desire to leave my cage by screaming until I get what I want. Once out, I prefer to spend my time perched on top of it, whistling contentedly. Despite not having any favorite whistles or sounds, I find joy in the simplest forms of entertainment.
One of my more intriguing habits is my fascination with my reflection, which I find in the oddest places. My foster dad thinks it's amusing to watch me interact with my mirrored image, making noises as if I'm trying to communicate with the bird I see.
My love for the outdoors is evident, as I truly enjoy my time in the aviary, a place where I can be closer to nature and other birds. When I'm with my bird friends, I become playful, a side of me that my foster dad thinks is always delightful to witness, even though I keep the specifics of my play to myself.
My favorite spot in the aviary is near the screen, where I can look outside. My foster dad believes this spot seems to offer me a window to the world beyond, sparking my curiosity and interest, especially when wild birds are around. My interactions with these wild birds are primarily through whistles, a common language that bridges our worlds. My foster dad is not entirely sure what sounds or sights catch my attention the most, but it's clear that the presence of wild birds plays a significant role in my outdoor activities.
Despite my independent nature, I show a cautious side around people. If someone gets too close, I prefer to run away rather than confront or interact. This behavior highlights my need for space and a respect for my boundaries, something my foster parent has learned to understand and appreciate over time.
I have a varied diet, favoring fruits and vegetables like apple, raspberry, coconut, banana, broccoli, papaya, corn, and carrots. When I am introduced to new types of fruits or vegetables, my reaction is always a surprise, adding another layer to my complex personality.
In essence, I am a bird of simple pleasures and complex behaviors, a blend of independence and sociability, with a clear preference for the company of birds over humans. My life, filled with whistles, reflections, and the occasional fruit feast, is a testament to the unique personality of Indian Ringnecks.
