Momentous events, good and bad, often herald unexpected blessings. Sweet Karatu's story did not begin happily. He survived being used as a "wedding release dove,” and there's nothing joyful about the fate of birds used for these releases. Many never find their way back to their former home and none of them have the survival skills needed to thrive in the strange new environment they're forced into. Karatu was one of the lucky ones. His rescuer noticed a pigeon, white as snow and obviously out of place, who would linger by himself in their yard after the local flock came to feed. Caught and safely transported to GLPR in a laundry basket, it was just the blessing Karatu needed after a monumental upheaval in his life. Now, he's looking forward to even more blessings in the future—yummy treats, soft places to snuggle, and someone to love him and promise to keep him safe. Karatu is ready to bless the lives of those in his forever home in thanks for giving his story the happy ending it deserves.
