Juanita is a strikingly beautiful double yellow-headed Amazon who is enjoying her golden years at the wise age of 42. She is very vocal and active, and especially enjoys demolishing enrichment provided on the floor of her cage! She has outlived multiple birds with whom she shared loving pair bonds, though she has NOT been open to making new bird friends since the passing of her most recent partner, Annie. Juanita's many dazzling qualities are accompanied by some more challenging attributes, so she would require an owner with a lot of parrot experience, preferably somebody with Amazon-specific experience. She requires a home that is willing to invest time into building a firm foundation of trust before working toward direct-contact handling, though she does step up very nicely on a towel for preferred caretakers. She would not be appropriate in a home with small children. Juanita could thrive in a very skilled home that is able to recognize the intentional training and care required to safely provide her with the environment she deserves.
