Doodles

Hi there! My name is Doodles! I am a 6-year-old Lovebird. I was surrendered to FPR due to some life changes in my owner's life. I am settling in the care of my foster family and am hoping to find my forever family. As you can see in my pictures, I do pluck my right wing and right side of my neck. The veterinarian found that I have an old injury on that wing, and I am unable to fully extend that wing. Due to this old injury, the vet says it is possible that I may be experiencing some pain, or the plucking has just become an obsessive habit. I was prescribed pain meds to take as needed. This is why I am listed as a special needs bird. But I do not let this issue hinder me in any way. I am a quick climber and get around perfectly fine. I need a very special home because I am what you would call a velcro bird. All I want to do as soon as I am uncovered in the morning is be with my person! I love to sit on my foster mom's shoulder or sit in her hand all day long if she would let me! I enjoy when she gives me head and cheek scritches. I shake my tail and click my beak when I am happy and enjoying all the attention! I will need to be adopted in a home where I will receive lots of daily attention. I do nip but not hard. My foster mom calls me a Sour Patch kid because I will be enjoying all the scritches but then I will gently nip her finger then I will go back to being a sweet lovebug! I enjoy sitting on my foster mom's arm while she showers and having the mist fall on me. I tolerate my mist baths, but they are not my favorite. I am a good eater, but I will throw out what I do not want to eat to the bottom of my cage. I am currently on a mix of pellets of Harrisons, Zupreem, and Hagan Tropimix. I love, love, love Nutriberries as a daily treat! My previous owner was a male but since being in my foster home, I seem to only prefer females.
