My Story

Hi, I'm Daisy, a White Bellied Caique with a zest for life and a love for bell peppers! At the young age of 7, my life reads like a feathered odyssey novel, with more rehomes than a bird can chirp at. But don't let my past ruffle your feathers; I'm a bird on a mission to find her forever family! With a diet that's gone from just everyday veggie medleys to my now gourmet Harrisons Diet, my culinary journey is as colorful as my bell peppers. I would say I'm a bit of a diva in the aviary world, definitely demanding attention. I love to say things like "give me kiss," and I absolutely shun the idea of being caged all day. I prefer male companions and do not care for children, or large dogs to be honest. I'm not a fan of woman companions either. My foster mom has tried so very hard to win me over. I've let her know a few times that I wasn't having it and called for my foster dad. I'm a typical teenager.... I can be happy and then.... without warning, I will bite. I don't give any warnings as some bird species do. I just go right for skin to let you know; I am the boss. My bedtime is non-negotiable, it's my time to unwind for a quiet, covered caged evening. I can be cage aggressive if I don't know you. My foster mom and the vet have both agreed, my fuzzy hut days were numbered. When I was taken in by my foster family, I came with a very large cage and a fuzzy hut. The fuzzy hut wasn't best for my hormonal changes, and I was forming some bad habits which have taken some time to get through. We've since compromised and for the time being, I have something small to cuddle up against at night, but I can no longer have a fuzzy hut to nest in. My foster momma tells me I am a definitely a work in progress with so much potential for the right home. I even step up on command now and enjoy praise and my NutriBerry treat. This was a HUGE step for me, and I know I have many more birdie milestones to achieve with the right forever home. I will need an experienced Caique male adopter who will continue to work with me on target training. A little note from my foster momma: This story as well as others, is testament to the resilience and adaptability of any feathered friend, and a reminder that every bird, no matter how loud, large or small, deserves a safe and loving place to call their forever home. Daisy would love a "Welcome to Foster" gift. You can view her list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/4BINY9NSPX8Z?ref_=wl_share Foster Location: Zephyrhills, FL Interested in adoption?
