My Story

“When I pass a flowering zucchini plant in a garden my heart skips a beat." Zucchini in Italian or Courgette in French - a deliciously delightful name for our little snow-capped blossom. Washed in a bed of bright white feathers with a pastel pink beak peeking out at us... it might be difficult to resist placing a petite kiss upon Courgette's tiny head. The ethereal beauty of the white pigeon in flight against the background of blue sky and puffy clouds has been depicted many times. In reality, birds face many obstacles in life. The enticing glass windows that reflect the sky or sun and foliage and falsely appear to be an attractive place to fly unfortunately kill nearly 1 billion birds a year. Courgette was a collision victim who luckily survived with a split lower beak. Through the careful and caring efforts of GLPR volunteers, Courgette has made a miraculous and full recovery. Now this sweet pigeon is ready to bloom into and grow amongst a new family. Is there a spot in the garden of your heart for Courgette?
