My Story

Cinny is a 5 year old male cinnamon green cheek conure and Basil, a male 3 year turquoise green cheek conure is his best friend. These boys are best buddies and clowns. They snuggle and preen each other and squabble too. They will do anything for a little walnut treat, and they love their morning strawberries and blueberries. Basil is interested in what the humans are doing, but Cinny prefers to stay a bit distant and wait for Basil to return to his side. That's ok! Both talk a little bit and are very engaged with anyone who wants to interact with them. But if they get too wound up and overwhelmed, they might bite. So it's important to understand body language and respect their space - and especially near their cage. It's never ok to get a bite! And it's our job not to start an unnecessary pattern because they are forced to be defensive. They are very curious and if left unsupervised, will explore everything. They are very dependent on each other and love to stay within eyesight of each other. When they want attention, they let out a "MEEP" and you can echo it back and they will be quiet after, which is adorable. Cinnamon is really really curious and loved little head scratches and will walk under your chin and hang out there for some affection. Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots. To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt. AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves only Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers. There are also many past event recordings available which you may find helpful. All event information can be found at www.phoenixlanding.org/events
