My Story

Chesney and Basil are 14 year old male gold capped conures. They are the best of buddies and have been together all their lives, but they really appreciate their human companions also. They are gorgeous birds with friendly personalities; Chesney being the more friendly of the two. Chesney is the first to come up, step up, and even give "kisses" to you, while Basil needs some time to get comfortable to open up to you. Basil is also the more picky one when it comes to food. They both love Nutri-berries and fresh veggies, and their favorite pellet is Harrison's Lifetime Coarse. Chesney and Basil are used to free flying and have had the freedom to go in and out of their cage as they please whenever people are around. They like to put themselves to sleep at night but going in their cage right around 9pm. As most conures, they can be pretty loud; however, they are no louder than an average conure and their vocalizations are rather varied and interesting to listen to. They are almost identical. The only two ways to differentiate them is that Basil is slightly bigger and has more black on his feet. Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots. To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt IMPORTANT!! ONLY AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves only Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers. There are also many past event recordings available which you may find helpful. All event information can be found at www.phoenixlanding.org/events Thanks for helping parrots!
