Our individual budgies can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/PEARLbudgies
We have many budgies available! We have a wide range of ages, and both sexes. We are currently offering a "Budgie Bundle," where you can adopt a budgie pair (your choice, or ask us to help choose!) with a fully outfitted cage (cage*, perches, toys, bowls), a travel cage, food samples, bird-safe disinfectant, a sprouting jar, and a guidebook with a quick overview of budgie care**! We are currently offering this bundle for $200. Otherwise, budgie adoptions "cost" any donation amount of your choice.
*= specific cage will vary depending on availability, but will likely be no smaller than a 30inx20in footprint

Budgies are fun, curious, and cautiously bold creatures. Their intelligence really shines when they're given lots of space and enrichment, and you earn their trust in an environment where they feel safe. Most PEARL budgies are housed in a walk-in aviary as a flock, which lets them get the most exercise, socialization, and enrichment possible, though it might make them seem a little bit shy once they're asked to re-adjust to a traditional setup. A little love and attention will bring them back out of their shell!
We prefer to adopt out in same-sex pairs to prevent our adopters from needing to navigate breeding problems
Please be aware, no parrot is cheap, not even the little ones. Obtaining the bird itself is always the cheapest part of bird ownership. Avian vets can cost hundreds of dollars, even for basic check-ups, and emergencies are more. High quality food and toys aren't cheap, and proving daily fresh food and enrichment is a task where many people underestimate the time, cost, and effort needed. All parrots scream, destroy, and bite, and can be a poor choice with small children and very excitable or prey-driven pets.
This is a general "We have Budgies!" listing, so we can consolidate our links and resources for them, and allow them to be found on petfinder, applied for, linked to, etc... without all two dozen (or so, on average) flooding the page and reducing the visibility of our individual parrots ;)
Our individual budgies can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/PEARLbudgies
Although our budgies are listed individually at that link (for best visibility and adoptability), we will not adopt out a budgie as a solo pet. Budgies are social animals that thrive with at least one friend of their own kind. All PEARL budgies must either be adopted with a friend (your choice, or ask us for our recommendation) or adopted into a home that already has at least one budgie.
Our budgies are held to the same standards of care as our larger parrots this means fresh foods as their main diet, high quality pellets, limited dry seed and treats, plenty of space, daily time out of the cage and human interaction, preventing breeding, and lots of enrichment. Shredding toys with balsa wood, cork, yucca, grapevine, coconut fiber, and sisal/seagrass are always a hit with the budgies! We reccomend the brands Feathered Addictions and Planet Pleasures, especially.
By adopting from PEARL, you agree to not breed these animals, to uphold our standard of care, and to return the animals to PEARL if your ability to care for them changes in the future.
Parrot Education and Rehoming League (PEARL) is an all-volunteer and foster-based organization. This means that we have no central "shelter," rather, our birds are located all across the Pittsburgh, PA area. Most of our budgies are fostered in a walk-in aviary in Beechview.
Our adoption process consists of:
1) Submitting an application
Click here: https://tinyurl.com/PEARLadoptionApplication or the "Start your Inquiry" button on this page
You can leave your pet of interest blank (the application will ask you for your species of interest), or apply for the "Budgie Adoptions!" listing
2) Attending our Standards of Care Class
Class is once a month, currently VIA Zoom. Check out our Facebook to see if we've posted the next class: https://www.facebook.com/PEARLParrots/events
You do not need an application submitted (or even interest in adopting!) to attend class. It is available to all, with a ticket fee of $10 that is a direct donation to PEARL
3) A Home Visit
We will arrange this when we reach out VIA your adoption application. We are currently doing some VIA Zoom and some in-person, depending on situation.
