My Story

?? Meet Bud and Mary Lou the Parakeets - Looking for a New Home! ?? Hello! We are Bud and Mary Lou the Parakeets. We came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on June 29th, 2024, at the Exotic Pet Surrender Event in Marinette, Wisconsin, after being abandoned by a tenant. Now, we’re looking for a loving forever home where we can chirp and play together! Interested in adopting us? Please fill out an adoption application on our website and let’s find us the perfect new home! About Us: We are Bud and Mary Lou, a bonded pair of parakeets. Care Tips for Parakeets: ? Enclosure: We need a spacious cage with horizontal bars for climbing. The minimum recommended size is 18x18x18 inches, but bigger is always better. ?? Temperature: Keep our cage in a room with a stable temperature between 65-75°F. Avoid drafts, direct sunlight, and extreme temperature changes. ? Lighting: We need natural or full-spectrum lighting to stay healthy. Ensure we get 10-12 hours of light and 10-12 hours of darkness daily. ?? Diet: We enjoy a varied diet of high-quality parakeet seed mix, fresh vegetables (like spinach, carrots, and bell peppers), and occasional fruits (like apples and grapes). Fresh water should always be available. ? Enrichment: Provide us with toys, perches of different textures and diameters, and opportunities for out-of-cage flight time in a safe environment. ? Environment: Keep our cage clean by changing the paper lining and washing food and water dishes daily. Lifespan: With proper care, parakeets can live up to 10-15 years. Let’s find Bud and Mary Lou a new home where they can chirp, play, and enjoy a happy, healthy life together! ?? #AdoptDontShop #ParakeetLove #RescuePets
