My Story

Bertram was rescued as a baby, having already endured neuro trauma and losing some toes to stringfoot. Baby Bertram was first reported turning in disoriented circles on the sidewalk in downtown Chicago, and volunteer Natalie rushed in search of this young pigeon in distress. When the described pigeon was nowhere to be found, Natalie asked a lady sitting on the corner if she had seen him and the lady stood up to reveal that she had captured Bertram under the milk crate she was sitting on and was keeping him safe and feeding him! The kind lady was relieved to know Bertram would receive the medical care he needed. Bertram is now a happy, healthy youngster who loves looking dapper in his pigeon pants and exploring his foster home! Bertram does have some residual neuro balance issues - he can fly, but sometimes flies backwards! Bertram is doing his happy flappies and practicing his balance as he eagerly awaits a forever home where he will be adored no matter which way he flies across the room to your lap!
