Barney and Fordham (married couple)

This Barney isn’t a purple dinosaur… oh wait! Birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs, and pigeons are one of the species of birds most closely related to dinosaurs… and this Barney sure does have the most magnificent pink and purple iridescent feathers! Barney the pigeon-dino may not sing jingles, but even better, Barney has exceptional conversational skills! Barney always has lots to say to our volunteers - mostly customer service recommendations for more safflower seeds. ;-) Surely, his witty charm helped Barney win the heart of sweet, courageous Fordham! When a passerby saw Fordham hit by a car, she told us she froze in horror, convinced Fordham couldn’t have survived. She watched the bird tumble across the pavement, being grazed once more by the car’s rear wheel before rolling to the side of the road. Fortunately, she didn’t turn away. She ran to pick up the bird, and was amazed when Fordham met her gaze, barely but miraculously alive. Fordham was covered in wounds in the back of her head, neck, and chest, both from the impact as well as from friction on the pavement. We are so thankful this kind lady rushed Fordham to one of our most experienced medical rehab volunteers. Fordham lost the use of her right eye that day, but she knew better days are still ahead! Fordham wanted to live! Fordham prevailed! Her feathers now grow in a little unevenly from the small scar that is the only remaining sign of her past head wounds. Barney and Fordham are adored by all who meet them, for their zest for life is palpable. Brave warrior Fordham, with her punk rock hairdo, and adorably chatty Barney boy look forward to celebrating life every day in their very own loving foster or forever home with lots of attention, good conversation with their people, and plenty of treats.
