Barley

Barley is a spirited, young and intelligent triton cockatoo. His favorite treats are all kinds of fruit, especially grapes. Barley can be very sweet and gentle. At Red Feather Farm he really enjoys time with our 11 year old daughter and treats her in such a sweet and caring way. Barley has done well working with my husband, but has shown aggression towards men in the past and would do best in a home where someone is willing to work with him regularly (he loves the chance to target and show off his intelligence), and if his potential adopter is living with a male he would do best going to a couple that understands how to work together with a potentially aggressive large parrot. Barley is not a beginner parrot but will make a lovely companion for anyone with experience who is eager to put in the effort. It’s worth noting he’s the loudest parrot we’ve yet had here and can easily reach 120 decibels on a good day. $250 of Barley's adoption fee will go towards enrolling his new owner into Level 1 and The Parrot Project with the Animal Behavior Center -this is an excellent resource for you to lean on to work with any new parrot, tackle any behavioral issues that may arise after bringing a new bird home, and to provide education and community to parrot owners.
